PRISON OF ATTACHMENTS BODYSUIT

MAHDI FAKIH

Whelve

Inspired by Pedro Almodóvar's iconic movie "High Heels," this collection, titled ‘Whelve’ delves into the notion that attachments function as personal prisons, ensnaring individuals in a web of unresolved traumas and emotions. These attachments have the potential to hinder progress and impede one's journey forward in life. With a dominantly black color palette, techniques include garments puffed with stuffing and the use of jersey strips and metal hoops.

Inspired by the designer’s personal skin condition, the collection celebrates differences in skin pigmentation and tone. With a natural color palette, the pieces in the collection praise imperfection through techniques such as burning velvet, layering with transparent fabrics, and fraying to create texture. Cut outs and splattered hand-painting also give the feeling of blotching and blemishes.

MILED CHAHLA

Enfant Gauche

‘Enfant Gauche’ is a collection inspired by Pedro Almodovar's 2004 film "La Mala Educación." Drawing from the song "Colonna Sonora" and the red carnation, Spain's national flower, the garments embody the chameleon-like essence of characters and moods. At its core is the influence of a femme fatale, portrayed by Gael Garcia, transitioning from glamorous drag to a muscular male tart, inspiring a tender and dandy menswear collection animated by volume, boning, and hand-painting techniques.

MOSTAFA AL SOUS

Rave Premise

The inspiration for this collection originated from the video game 'Stropophagia,' a gripping virtual experience where players find themselves trapped in a nightmarish carnival, subjected to a psychological ordeal while under the influence. Delving into the uncharted territory of exposure to influence became a compelling mystery. The captivating visuals, vibrant colors, and in-game avatars were significant sources of inspiration. The collection, a tapestry of colors, symbols, and narrative dynamics, draws strength from these elements. The exploration of the intricate relationship between story and player, along with an understanding of how choices mold the narrative, played a pivotal role in shaping this collection, translating through Crochet Weaving, Dry Felting, Weaving, and Patchwork Bias Strips in a deep palette highlighted throughout with neon green.

The Blooming Skirt

MUHAMMAD AOUN

Into the Bloom

'Into the Bloom' draws inspiration from the Pedro Almodovar film 'Volver,' capturing the essence of women's beauty akin to the delicate yet resilient nature of flowers. From the profound darkness of roots, the collection boldly communicates the philosophy of women—a resilient beauty always visible yet intricately rooted in the unseen depths. Celebrating the dichotomy of fragility and strength in each piece, the collection embodies a style that demands attention and exudes confidence. Through the techniques of pleating and applique using tough denim fabric, Into the Bloom pays homage to the intricate dance of resilience and allure, epitomizing a sophisticated and unapologetic statement of feminine power.
